For financial details UPI uses Securepay, the Commonwealth Bank secure payment web site. Securepay uses the security mechanism that maintains the security and privacy of financial and personal information. It uses the encryption 128 bit Secure Sockets Layer Protocol (SSL) that was developed to protect confidential information such as credit card numbers and other financial data from interception and hacking.

Unfortunately, no data transmission over the internet can be guaranteed to be totally secure.
